We’ve had a couple of links to online resources related to John Ruskin from Dr Stuart Eagles. There’s a John Ruskin Facebook page and also the Eighth Lamp, an online Ruskin-related journal.

Hi Lynn, glad you like it. It is a fascinating project, I’m completely hooked! Would love to see your pin cushions, if you send me some pics I’ll put them up on the blog.

We are building a picture of Mary in her later years but don’t know much about her early days as of yet. Mary was married to Thomas Tylston Greg, part of the Greg’s of Styal Mill and their money mainly comes from that source (I have reams of papers, if you’d like to read more). However, Mary was descended from the Hope family of Liverpool. Hope St in Liverpool was built by and named after her great(?) grandfather, so there was money in her side of the family too. If you have the time it is worth trawling through the posts in the ‘have a rummage section’ as a lot of the detail you are asking about is in there. Also, have a look in the pull down menu bars at the top of the blog. Hopefully you will find what you are looking for pretty quickly.

Happy reading and do get involved with the research or make a response. Sharon
